Good Things

This afternoon as I was driving home, I noticed a big sign out in front of the county fair grounds. It said:

Eat ice cream.
Read books.
Be happy.

What a simple, lovely, practical approach to life, I thought. Each of those statements is an invitation to something good. It really doesn’t have to be any harder than that.

I wondered what my three signposts for a happy life might be. I decided that, at least for today, they are

Share peace.
Plant beauty.
Love God.

What are your three simple things to steer by for a good day? Write them down. Give thanks for them. And let them guide you today. It doesn’t have to be any harder than that.

“For God is not a God of confusion, but of peace.”
